Philip Brereton
Prosthetist / Orthotist
Philip is a state registered Prosthetist/Orthotist, regulated by the UK Health Professions Council (HPC) and also a Full Member of the British Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics (BAPO). He has been involved in the Prosthetic and Orthotic field for 6 years, having graduating from Salford University with a BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Philip has previously worked with the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where he was a dual practicing professional which involved treating both orthotic and prosthetic patients. Having experience mainly within general orthotics clinics he has gained a broad scope of experience. Whilst at Devon and Exeter, he developed a special interest in the treatment of spastic cerebral palsy, concentrating on the use of ankle foot orthoses in conjunction with botulinum toxin A (botox) to manage high tonic spasticity to improve developmental mobility problems.
Philip joined Technology in motion in January 2008 and trained in the treatment of head shape deformities, (plagiocephaly and brachycephaly) using the STARband™ therapy under the direction of Steve Mottram – clinical specialist/orthotic manager. Philip is a welcome addition to the clinical team and has now firmly established himself as a valued clinical specialist. His current role is to work with the team supporting the Cardiff and Leeds central and satellite clinics.
Philip lives in West Yorkshire with his wife Rosaria and their three young children.
