Fitting

With each client’s orthotic prescription being very different, every effort is made to manufacture these as quickly as possible following the initial biomechanical assessment. Orthotics are supplied as pairs and are custom manufactured by our qualified technicians precisely to the prescription requested by the prescribing Clinician. Should any further alterations be necessary, the Clinician will undertake this during the fitting appointment.

The fitting appointment will take approximately ½ hour and involves the following;

  • Biomechanics FittingFitting – The Clinician will have already physically checked that the orthotic meets the prescription criteria prior to the appointment, but now needs to ensure that it fits the client’s footwear correctly. If the orthotic requires any minor adjustments, the Clinician can alter this during the appointment.
  • Function – Once the orthotics have been fitted in the footwear the Clinician will ask the client to perform a number of movement tests to establish the function of the orthotic and to ensure that it is comfortable.

After supplying the orthotics the client will automatically be given a review date, which will normally be within a 6 – 8 weeks time period. This appointment is crucial and enables the Clinician to assess the effects the foot orthotics are having on the symptoms presented.

The Appointment:

To assist in the smooth running of the appointments, we have compiled a checklist of important things to remember to bring to this appointment;

  • Running shorts & t-shirt
  • The same trainers & daily shoes brought to the assessment
