Amputee Information

Amputation does not have to end your life. For some of us, it has offered a new start in life. My box of dreams has been flung open now! Judy Berna

Össur has worked with those affected by amputation and limb loss for more than 30 years. Here, we hope to offer useful information, inspiration and support.

From issues surrounding the surgery itself and what happens next, to general advice for new lower limb amputees and their friends and families, our aim is to shed some light and hopefully offer comfort at a potentially stressful time.

Life goes on

We explore life after limb loss through the experiences of ordinary and often extraordinary people. People like Jim Bonney, whose candid diary about amputation and the subsequent road to recovery has helped to motivate many people over recent years. For added inspiration we draw on the achievements of Team Ossur, some of the most outstanding athletes of our time.

Prosthetics: selecting, fitting and using

Össur’s advancements in design and material technologies mean that our choice of prosthetic components is greater than ever before. Our selection guidelines help match particular products with individual needs and our expert prosthetists are always happy to offer advice and guidance online.

If you have any questions, suggestions or comments on anything in this site, we’d love to hear from you. Feel free to drop us a line.
