ReSolve® Halo

The ReSolve Halo is a clinically proven MRI-safe halo system. Its glass composite ring and ceramic tipped pins are both non-conductive and isolate the patient from potential current induction.

This eliminates the risk of pin vibrations and the dangerous scalp burns resulting from the halo pin heating phenomenon. In addition, the glass composite ring ensures clearer and more high resolution MR images. The adjustable vest is light weight and has an anatomically contoured fit for optimised patient comfort.

Indications for Use

  • Cervical spine fractures
  • Spinal subluxations
  • Traumatic or chronic disorders requiring cervical traction

Product Highlights

  • MRI-Conditional (Tested Safe at 3-Tesla) enabling artifact free diagnostic images
  • Ceramic tipped skull pins to eliminate the risk of dangerous scalp burns
  • Glass composite ring and ceramic tipped pins are non-conductive and don't induce dangerous current flow
  • Cinching mechanism on the vest for simple application and customised fit
  • Locking mechanism makes the adjustable vest features tamper proof for the patient
  • Light weight, anatomically contoured vest for superior fit and patient comfort
  • Two fully adjustable vest sizes (tall/short) allows reduced hospital inventory for the vest

To which level does the Halo vest support?
Occiput to T2

How many sizes does the vest come in?
The ReSolve vest has two sizes – Short and Tall.

  • Short  –  Chest circumference at Xyphoid  24"-48" ( 60-127cm )
  • Tall  –  Chest circumference at Xyphoid  27"-54" ( 66-137cm )

How do I measure for the correct size of halo vest?
See the sizing charts above and the ring sizing chart, and consult instructions in TM0046.

Where should the vest sit on my patient?
Proper fit of posterior vest:

    A. Shoulder pieces in close contact with patient’s shoulders
    B. Shoulder straps secure
    C. Vest below sternal notch and centred
    D. Superior lateral vest extension in firm contact with delto-pectoral groove, no contact on clavicles
    E. Waist stabilisers cover lower costal margins
    F. Threaded knobs secure
    G. Waist straps secure and in alignment tabs on waist stabilisers

The bottom edge of the anterior vest should not extend below the costal margin (lowest rib) and upper edge (center) should be below the sternal notch and centered on the chest. Proper fit of anterior vest:

    A. Upper edge of vest at the level of C7
    B. Ends of crossplate in firm contact with trapezius muscles, not on the spine of the scapula
    C. Superior edges of waist stabilizers at level of xyphoid process
    D. Central relief opening in line with spinous processes

How do I tighten the vest?
The waist straps can be cinched down to get a good, snug fit on the patient.

Should I always use the waist and shoulder stabilisers?
Always use the waist stabilisers. The shoulder stabilisers are optional.

What types of liners can I get for the vest?
The vest is currently supplied with a choice of Lambswool or Kodel.

When do I trim the Halo vest?
The waist stabilisers must be trimmed for certain smaller xyphoid circumferences. On the Short Vest waist stabilisers require trimming if chest circumference at xyphoid measures less than 89 cm (35 in).  On the Tall Vest, waist stabilisers require trimming if measurement is less than 86 cm (34 in).  This is indicated on the waist stabiliser itself as well as in the vest technical manual.

You can also trim straps to prevent them from hanging, or trim the liner to achieve a lower profile fit.

What is red line for?
The red line indicates the section of the vest that van be easily bent for rapid chest access for CPR.

Is the vest safe in MRI/Xray?
Yes, the vest is MRI safe for use in environments up to 3Tesla.

How do I contour the cross plate?
The cross plate is pre-contoured and does not require contouring.

Is the vest heat mouldable?
Yes the vest can be heat molded.
