Össur’s Technology in Motion clinics provide a comprehensive specialist Biomechanical Service to treat a wide range of common musculoskeletal conditions or injuries. These are often complex in presentation and in some cases preventable.

Our approach is drawn from long clinical experience and extensive knowledge gained from treating a wide range of conditions, including sport and non sport related problems.

Assessment and treatment

A Biomechanical Assessment can benefit a wide range of patients from children over 6 yrs old to adults, from those who do not engage in sports to elite athletes.

Symptoms such as lower back pain, sciatica or general lower limb pain and low exercise endurance can start from incorrect alignment in the foot and ankle complex. Incorrect footwear or foot alignment can increase the chance of problems or overuse injuries such as:

  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Morton’s Neuroma,
  • Metatarsalgia,
  • Sesamoiditis,
  • Trochanteric Bursitis,
  • Anterior Ankle Impingement,
  • Patella Tendinopathy
  • Illeo Tibial Band Syndrome

These can all be helped by correcting the alignment of the foot and ankle by using correctly diagnosed and manufactured foot orthotics.

There are also many underlying structural or arthritic causes of incorrect foot alignment, these range from unequal leg lengths, to arthritis in the spine, hip, knee, ankle, foot or toes and these can all be helped by correctly diagnosed and fitted foot orthotics.

Children aged 6 and older or adolescents can also be helped if they are competing at a high level of sport or have conditions such as Osgood Schlatters disease,  Severs disease, or a simple toe in or toe out walking pattern.

Össur’s Technology in Motion clinics in Wimbledon and Leeds offer specialised fully equipped gait analysis facilities featuring a ½ metre or 2 metre RS Scan Pressure Plate together with 2D Quintic Video Analysis.
